Retail Assistant (Voluntary)

Your role will be to assist the Retail manager to run the charity’s shop effectively. There are many aspects to the shop which you may be involved in. Working in a shop is a team effort so you will need to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. The key responsibilities you may engage with are as follows:

Shop floor

• Making sure all items are priced
• Tidying and cleaning the shop floor (furniture and general housekeeping)
• Assisting customers
• Colour blocking clothing
• Rearranging items in the shop

Sorting room
• Making sure donations are suitable
• Steaming all the clothing/ fabric items
• General cleaning and tidying
• Storing items in the correct places

Behind Counter
• Serving customers- taking cash and card payments
• Taking deposits
• Arranging shop deliveries which includes liaising with the office to book a delivery date and time slot.
• Dealing with clothing credit
• Dealing with exchanges

General
• Good Housekeeping (keeping environment clean and tidy)
• To maintain health and safety procedures at all times
• Report any health and safety concern to the shop manager
• Report any fire risks to the Shop Manager
• Report all security concerns to the shop manager
• To complete tasks when asked to the best of your ability
• Have good communication skills
• Manual handling
• Attend training sessions when needed
